INVOLVEMENT or COMMITMENT?
As organizations attempt to change the way:
- things get done,
- that
people interact,
- the organization(s) really functions,
a critical success factor is whether
people are involved or committed to
the effort. |
Involvement and commitment are different! Comparing organizational
change to a breakfast of ham and eggs and the roles, respectively,
of the pig and the chicken in that breakfast may be helpful in
understanding
that difference.

In a breakfast of ham and eggs,
the chicken is involved!
|
|
| The pig in that ham and egg breakfast is committed! |
 |
|
While we will want to involve as many people as possible, real
success will not occur
until people are committed! Commitment:
- giving of myself
- change – starting with
me
- hanging in when the going gets rough
- staying the course!
